My classic (93 wrx) has no problem with short journeys so i would think you have a more underlying problem.

Could be your crank sensor getting lazy. Generally warm starting problems could be caused by this sensor failing. I know after 10mins the engine is not warmed up fully but it's a good place to start. Do a search and you will find more info.

Camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Use the codes to find out which.
