Default Air temp sensor

I have an air temp sensor with my Simtek which is fitted in the front of the TMIC. I will be fitting a FMIC soon and wondered where the best place would be to refit the sensor...Intercooler or an Intercooler pipe?

Hi Jay,

Just take the sensor out of the TMIC and blank it off.
Refit the sensor in the hard pipe of the FMIC kit just prior to the throttle body.
I will see if I can find a photograph or better still take a photograph of one of the cars here.

You can see the sender unit on the front driver side of the TMIC. As the sender unit on the intercooler hard pipe is mounted underneath the pipe about 3" from the throttle body you cannot actually see it.

By the way, it is important to keep the temperature sensor wiring away from the HT leads to avoid interference. Best to take the sender wiring back to the bulk head.

If you are prepared to take the hard pipe off, or if you do it during the initial instal, you can locate the temp. sender within inches of the the end of the hard pipe to the throttlebody, allowing a little bit for the silicon joiner and with the sender on the under side so it is not seen.Leg@cy has a good picture there and you can choose the location to suit what is in your engine bay but put it fairly close to the TB.

Loads of Hybrid intercooler kits in stock so come back when you want.

The Simtek runs an air charge temperature compensation so fueling can be trimmed to take account of differing temperatures and that is the purpose of the probe, to send info to the ECU.
Some but not all aftermarket ECUs have this facility.
