Unhappy possible piston slap?

hi guys, bit of advice needed from someone in the know,my car is a uk turbo 2000 my99,in standard spec except for 3" scorpion exhaust from turbo back, and a blitz dump valve.
i think she has a little piston slap but not convinced and a tad concerned.
bought her with 58k and has now covered 89k,the noise was there when purchased and remains the same now, never got worse,by the time the temp guage starts to register its totally gone and sounds very crisp, now the situation is,im about to pull the engine and box out to give them a good going over,as she req a clutch, front main is weeping, rear main is weeping, water pump is very slightly noisey, timing belt is about ready, and second gear has a very small whine on overrun, was wanting to detail everthing before putting it back to try and make her look a little prettier and well cared for if you get me.
what im trying to say is i dont want to go to town making a engine look real nice thats about done and wasting **** loads of time on it,any advice would be greatly apreciated,as althouth i am well knowledged in a vast array of vehicles i cant say ive really worked on scooby's at all other that servicing etc.thanks again, dave.

Mine does it too, my99 uk turbo wagon. Its done it for the last 23,000 miles and at first i was worried about it. But you know what its never missed a beat. Ive been modifying it gradually over the last 2 years and its now running a td05/06 20G @ 1.4 bar, fmic, 750cc injectors etc on an apexi power fc. Its been like that for the last 2000 miles and its still going strong. Even after tuning the apexi and finding at what afr/advance it would start to knock it still drives beautiful.

flip a coin - heads it will, tails it wont! - what im saying is its impossible to tell - and its not for me to decide. A good engine should take 300 bhp but that doesnt mean yours will or wont for that matter.

There is always a gamble in upping the power, but if you get it done properly and your engine is good 'un, there is no reason why it wouldnt take it. but at the end of the day - budget for the worst and enjoy the car if all works out well.

well putting the slap to one side, she never ever uses oil or water at all and is always serviced every 3-3.5k and has always been, the history and bills that came with her are outstanding, all genuine parts,so i suppose if a engine stands a chance this one does, having fun with ya car is always a gamble i understand that,so what the hell ill give it a go,i always wanted a scoob from been a school lad,and think this one will be around for a good few years yet,but the need for more grunt is deffo eating away at me,so while she is off the road im gonna go for it
