Unhappy BROKEN frnt HEAT SHILED CLASSIC TURBO

While changing my oil filter i noticed a broken frnt driver side heat shiled?
i removed the guard as it was hanging by a thread
my question is
is this part a must have or can i run my car without it in place?

will run fine mate just there to keep engine bay temps down but will be fine
