Default petrol smell inside car

Maybe answer this myself but just wondered if anyone had encountered this before?
Ive had a full exhaust decat from turbo back.
On start up and cool down am getting a petrol smell inside the car, is it just as simple as the petrol going thru the system and not getting burnt off properly until the exhaust system is warmed up??

cheers

Andy

I get a petrol smell inside the car occasionally, maybe once every couple of months or so, so I'd be interested to hear people's ideas too

I get a smell of petrol when I stop. Car was mapped not too long ago, could it be due to the map? Not queried it with mapper yet.

Woulod also be interested to hear ideas.

Mine had this but i'd had a new fuel pump fitted. I just lifted my access panel in the boot and re-sealed and all was fine. I'm guessing that this wont be the answer unless you've had the panel up

I also get a strong petrol smell waft through the window when i pull up.. no obvious signs of leakage. Mine too appeared after the car was mapped but i also de-cat'd the car just before so..

I tend to notice it when coming to a halt after hooning it, I imagine looking at the shootout graph and the AFR reading that this is because the car is running low 10's under hard boost I.E very very rich. Normal driving around town doesn't seem to do it, especially from cold, although now thinking about it i'm not sure

any ideas welcome
