Just purchased aftermarket steering wheel - fitting guide???
Tried search but no good.
Has anyone got a quick guide to removal of my OE steering wheel and fitting aftermarket one.
Do you remove indicator stalks during the process?
Any help would be great.
Cheers

battery off, undo bolts behind steering wheel that hold centre airbag out, unclip the wires. undo centre bolt, fit boss + wheel insert 3 ohm resistor between airbag wiring unless you are using a new airbag wheel, connect horn fit centre cap. Job done.

The steering wheel can be VERY tight even with the centre nut removed...try rocking from side to side. Beware broken face / nose / teeth
Best of luck

Has anyone managed to change there steering wheel and keep the airbag light out by inserting a resister into the wiring as mentioned above,if so would they let us know exactly where to place the resister and which wires to connect it too so as not to get this wrong and maybe set off the airbags upon re-connecting the battery.im sure many others will also benefit from this as it seems to be a popular subject on the forum.

ok, first thing to do, is buy a decent boss, that is designed specifically for the Impreza.
Cant recommend this one enough:
Works Bell Standard Boss Kit 115 Subaru
Yes from Japan, but worth every penny. It comes with all OEM connectors to allow horn to work easily and to stop the Airbag light coming on.
So once you have the hub, and your wheel of choice, its a case of:
Undo screws on side of wheel to release airbag.
Loosen centre nut, and swing on the wheel like a mad man, until it comes loose. Then unwind the rest of the nut (stops you getting a wheel to the face).
Then fit on your wonderful Works Bell boss kit, feeding through any wires needed (generally following the pictured instructions), in my case, just the single Horn wire.
Get your new wheel ready, in my case some JDM megabling in the form of a Key!s Racing 350mm buckskin steering wheel.
Screw it into place using provided bolts
Stand back and admire
Go Enjoy!

I'd be interested to hear how other people had got on too

I bought a Momo boss and Sparco 13" wheel from Demon Tweeks. the boss came with the special resistor in the box which fits directly to the airbag plug All OK and light stays out. Make sure you wait 30 secs after disconnecting battery before unplugging anything in the airbag system.
In addition I have removed my inertia reel seatbelts (weigh 4kg) in favour of harnesses for track only use and put 2.2 ohm resistors from Maplin in the explosive tensioner connectors again with no problems. Just double over the end wire of the resistor and it is a snug fit in the connector and tape up.
