Default Is it worth de-catting a WR1?

Just wondering if its worth the money to decat my WR1. Will this give a noticabe power gain without a remap? Will it run ok without a remap? Its totally standard just now but just wondering if the decat would free up a few more horses without giving me problems!

personally i would of thought you could decat it without needing a remap but i could be wrong, i'm sure someone will come alond and verify it.

think i've heard if u decat a classic scooby it can add about 25bhp not sure what gains can be had from newer scoobs tho.

to answer your questions in order:-

no, no, no, no

seriously, your exhaust (as is the PPP sti) is a very good system that with a remap without changing a thing will give you 320-340 bhp depending where you go
the only restriction in your system is the sports cat downpipe and that's regarded as being next to no different to a decat pipe , it's that efficent.

unless you're chasing silly bhp figures if it was my money it would be spent on the remap and go from there

Cheers. Wasnt too sure how restrictive the sports cat was but if your saying its that efficient then , as you said, there would be no point in removing it. Thanks for the advice!

no worries mate don't get me wrong, if you've got a freindly MOT station and want to wring every possible bit of power out of the car then go decat with remap.

otherwise if you're just after a little more poke i remember a write up in jap performance with RCM modding a WR1, which IIRC to start with had some kind of cold air feed and a remap and put out some pretty good figures. might be worth a phone call
