all vf turbos are roller bearing vf23 will give you fast transient spool up ,and full boost comes on quicker then the tdo4 unit mate

They lied the td04 turbo isn't roller bearing whereas the VF is and the VF23 is a better turbo

Not all VF turbos are roller bearing, for example the VF35 isnt, but the VF23 is.

Oh and the VF23 is a better turbo over the TD04, and id be worried if your car is suppose to have a VF23 and has a TD04 on its map, a bit scary!

well i queried the noise the turbo makes as you can hear it spooling up and down very clear, and they said its deffo a roller bearing turbo, is there anyway i can tell what it is just by looking at it,

Should be some markings on the front housing.

hi m8 thers no comparison with tdo4 to vf23. i have vf23 fitted to my2000 classic and mapped with apexi and all necessary mods, its awsome comes on boost early ,massive midrange all the way up to redline never tales off. you must have it mapped properly though to give you less lag at the bottom end. once sorted its some turbo in a lightweight classic for resonable money.

VF24 is standard off the V4 STI and is a roller bearing Turbo

Did you get the boosting problem sorted?

Here is some info I found on the two turbos when I was checking mine out.

The VF23 starts the middle ground. It comes on boost around 3100 rpm and is capable of running 20 psi of boost. Expect to max out the VF23 somewhere in the 300-350 hp range.

The VF 24 starts to come on around 2900 rpm and will significantly improve power through the midrange over the stock TD04 turbo. However, the VF 24 is only capable of running around 17 psi.
