Default water pressure too high

dont worry its a different car, we have 2, anyway on my other 95 sti it had a head gasket blown due to being driven with a split header tank, they have been changed and the engines been put back in the car, i drove it round the block and when i got back on the drive the new header tank had split, i have checked the compression and its ok, so what could have caused it to go again, thanks phil.

I would replace the plastic header tank with a metallic one. You'll find them from later model WRXs, however you need to make a custom bracket to fit it.

i think that would be a good idea, but there is a reason for it splitting as i took the header tank off my other sti and it was a good solid looking one.

did you change the thermostat as well when the hg was done? Possibility that has failed causing the system to pressurize.

Also the headertank may have looked good, but the outlets onhe earlier versions basicaly turn to like paper mache over time so could look okay but just suddenly fail

ill go and check the thermostat now and let you know what i find, if it has stuck together and just a little more pressure is in the system, and if the header tank was slightly weak but not weak enough to fail on my other car, then i guess it could have popped it, i hope it is that, it will save me whipping it out again, i have enough on with my other sti after a rebuild, thanks phil.

i have just checked the thermostat and it seems to be working ok, so ill leave it for a while, as i have just bought an alloy header tank off ebay, so when that comes ill put it on and see what happens then, thanks for the help, ill keep you posted, phil.
