As above, can any one assist.....

its a 96 sti v3, fairly standard but after a spirited drive i hear a strange noise that i can only describe as a rumble, like a worn bearing .....

Weird thing is, it is only heard on idle and upto 2k, and only from inside the cabin. If i pop the bonnet and gently blip the accellerator it sounds fine....

Any idea's? this is my 4th scoob and iv nt heard this before?

 

Could be something daft like the alternator, water pump, PAS pump or if fitted air-con pump.... I have seen all the above over the last few years... not on Scoobs tho'.

last time i spun a bearing i held it at 2.5k and it was blatantly obvious, reving it made the noise go away, but on tick over and 2.5k it was there alright!!!

 

Its nothing like that lol....

Iv driven it all weekend and its not made the noise, the fluid was low in the powersteering when i first bought it so im wondering if maybe it damagaed the bearings...

Does the noise go away when you dip the clutch?

Not that im aware of, will have to try.

It doesnt happen all the time, only if its been on a spirited drive....
