Assume you have 4..5 inch backbox.

change to the 3inch H&S one or factory STi one. Or magnex..

Refit the standard DV. Putting an STi zorst on it and refitting an air box will quieten it right down, but will definitely effect your car's response, whether the mapping will be OK with this I don't know. Or option B, get a people carrier.

Default Blue Peter...

i'm in the same boat lad, was gonna try dampening the inside of the car with some carpet....... the bairns gonna be in the car and the boombooms gonna be outside the **** end, so i'm gonna try lining the boot and back under the backseat....i've got a TSL Thundercat or something exhaust and its louder than any Scoobies up here in Scotland....???? Might no work, but its worth a try......

Leave it as it is mate, they'll get used to it!

My 2 year old daughter loves riding in the back of my bugeye and mine's pretty damn loud..

Come to think of it, my missus loves the bugeye too, the kids at the school where she works all stop what they're doing and have a nose when she drives into the grounds....not something they do when she's in the X-snail..

Get a bung for your back box, that way you can remove it when the mrs / kid is not in the car.
