Looking for some experienced scooby drivers opinions

Just bought MY97 turbo with 205x50x15 tyres.
Want to upgrade to 17inch - looking this week.

Been given conflicting information from different parties.
205/215x40x17 tyres are fine???
205/215x45x17 will give me problems???

please help???

205/45R17 (Prodrive recommended size, but limited choice of tyres) or 215/40R17 (Close rolling circumference, but a much wider choice)
