Default MY99 "Dragging" effect when cold

ok, since buying my RB5 in september i`ve always been experiencing this "dragging" effect.

basically when the car is cold and i`m tootling about waiting on it getting to temp it sometimes surges and almost feels like someone is maybe applying the handbrake slightly, causing the car to drag.

Some days its really bad, some days its not there, and its never there after about 5-10 mins of driving.

Now I replaced the MAF in november, and tried different fuel (shell or texaco instead of BP for example) and again it was present, then it wasnt then it was then it wasnt.

I had the car ecutek`d by AF, and sods law, it wasnt present as the car was fairly warm after the drive up. So i couldnt even sound it out off him to get an idea.

Can anyone shed light on this? my old dc2 had a similar feeling but it was sticking rear calipers which i was able to sort, but the brakes on the RB5 are 110% solid.

I had exactly the same problem on my MY99, kind of fluttery and a bit annoying. The reason this happens is the car goes into close loop fueling and this makes the car feel odd. I spoke to Bob Rawle about this and he said that it happens from time to time but unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it. I changed my plugs from NGKPFR6's to NGKPFR7's, the 7's run cooler as I am running 281bhp after my remap. This did help a little, but it may well return.

They can be a little lumpy when cold mate. Get your Lambda sensor checked. Cheap and easy thing to rule out before you start replacing parts!

I've had my RB5 from new and it did the same thing when I first had it - complained to the dealer and was told it was to do with emissions when warming up and nothing could be done. It seemed to just disappear over time really and it hasn't done it for ages now I think about it.
