Default EGT Sensor Related Question

Hoping someone can shed some light on this problem for me.

Bought an MY02 WRX about a month or so ago. Has a number of mods including an sti V5 engine. Its fitted with a full vortex afterburner exhaust including full decat.

The car threw up the CEL light a couple of days back so i put it into my local tuning garage for a diagnostic check. They came back and told me it was an EGT sensor and to take it to my local subaru garage to get sorted.

Thing is i was having a look under the bonnet at the uppipe today and it seems as if there is a bolt in the hole where i assume the sensor should be housed.

I've read about the CEL fix using a 2.2 K Ohm resistor in the EGT sensor connector but my main problem is i can't seem to locate the connector in the engine bay to see if this resistor had been fitted in the past and has failed or if it has not been done at all.

Anyone help me locate this connector please?

I'm not the most clued up with imprezas so it may be a silly question but i had a good look for 5-10 minutes earlier and can't for the life of me find it!

Any help would be appreciated guys, cheers.

Dunc it will be under the plastic coverplate where your boost solenoid is.Bonnet up looking at the car drivers side by the front strut top.

Doesn't seem to be a cover plate gussy.

It therefore must be in or around the area where my fuel pressure regulator is yeah?

I must be stupid tho as i still can't bloody see it!!

If the cover plate isnt there it must have been taken off for some reason.Anyway if you check on the innerwing by the strut as I said earlier where the boost solonoid is positioned above where the bolt is in the uppipe that you have mentioned it will be in that area.

Here's a picture of the resistor position:

If the resistor was never fitted and the sensor removed then you'd have had a CEL from day 1. It may well have come adrift and needs fixing in position.

Right, i've done the CEL fix with the correct resistor (checked with multimeter).

Have ran the car a few miles and shut it off and started up about 10 times and the CEL is still on!!

When the car was in at my local tuner they said the only CEL fault was the EGT sensor and nothing else had been flagged up.

Should i be resetting the ECU or have i done something wrong?

The resistor is def fitted correctly and firmly so i'm really not sure what else it could be.

Any ideas lads??

Cheers
