Top Mount Oil Cooler
Have done some searching but can find very little info on top mounted oil coolers.
I have fitted a hybrid FMIC and want to look next at an oil cooler and with having nothing under the bonnet scoop, it seems an obvious place to locate it.
What parts would be required or is there a dedicated kit for this on a classic (1993 type RA).
Are there any special requirements with regards to reducing air locks with a top mount oil cooler and do you have to change the process for doing an oil change if you have one fitted.
Do you need to increase the oil level in the sump to account for the additional volume of the cooler and pipework?
Would be really keen to hear from anyone who has actually carried out this mod.
Cheers guys!

Hi
You can fit your oilcooler everywehre you want. I think the top mount is a good idea.
To fit an Oilcooler you need.
An Aluminium Oilcooler from Sterab or Mocal.... I recommand a model with 19rows. It fits perfectly to a 2l Engine
In addition you need
- Stainless Steel braided Oil lines 2 or 3 meters but that depends on how youll lay the lines
- Sandwich adapterplate with the right thread for your Oilfilter
- 2 fittings with 90 degree
- 2 fittings straight 3/8 NPT thread i think
I think thats all. did that job on several hondas before
With an oilcooler you need half litre more oil to fill up the piping and the cooler.
Changing the oil is same procedure as before. Nothing changes. Just fill up the new oil and change the oilfilter. The oil in the cooler and piping gets pumped around in the oilsystem. Its not that bad. have nor fear.
All my buddies do it that way.
I hope you´ll understand my "good" english....
