Default gearbox code help

Hi all,
I have a 1995 impreza wrx import, i think the syncromesh on 4th gear has gone so i am looking to replace the box, i have had a look around and there are a lot of different codes, could i fit any gearbox as long as it has the same final drive ratio or do all the ratios have to be the same? any help/info would be great.
Thanks
Dan.

i would say u have to keep the gearbox and the rear diff as a pair and not mix and match gearboxes and diffs as they can end up windin each other up....................been there done that and **** myself lol!!

Hi mate from my limited understanding your gearbox will have a 752 casing, therefore you can fit any gearbox with the same casing as long as it matches the rear diff, I think you will have a 4.11 rear diff but im not certain, maybe someone on here can confirm this!?
