Default overheating problem

problems problems!!!
got a overheating problem in my 1995 impeza...

when im driving normal the car seems fine but when i give it some it starts to overheat and spits water out of the over flow tank at the front of the engine bay...
fans are working and i carnt see any other leaks but there does seem to be a lot of presure in the coolant system...

any boby have any idears??

also where are the thermostats??

Mine did this and it was the waterpump.
Only overheated when on boost, coolant level were only dropping slowly.

could also be head gasket related

i was thinking it might be water pump...
how hard are the to change??

head gaskets are a pain, alot of th etime crank bearings need to be done as well due to being damaged when gasket goes

if it was head gasket wouldnt there be cream in the oil???

Not always. Depends where the gasket has blown. If it blows between the cylinder and water jacket then it will pressurise the coolant system. Its only if the oil and water mix will you see the dreaded cream! See rover K series for details!

I got the garage to change the waterpump, took them about an hour and it looked complicated to me but then I don't get my hands dirty!!

fitted a new water pump and stat today quite easy to do if you no your way around a timming belt...
anyway its still the same so it looks like is the head gasket thats gone..
