Default Hydraulic Clutch damper question

Hi is it any particular years that have a hydraulic clutch damper fitted?

I'm using a 2003-2005 5 speed WRX gearbox in a mid-engined Scooby based project I am building. The generic Wilwood master cylinder and Subaru slave cylinder I am using are the correct bores, but the pedal effort is highish and pretty on-off action wise. Some may be down to the pedal pivot ratio on the pedal box I am using and I may need to give that an adjustment.

But reading the thread below I get the impression if I installed the hydraulic clutch damper it may soften the pedal feel which is what I am aiming for.

Has anyone tried with and without a clutch damper does not having one make the clutch operation heavier? If so what years use the damper.

Cheers
Guy

I posted that original thread, unfortunately I never removed the damper to see if it reduced cluch slip so I'd be interested if anyone has done it as well, now the weathers better I may be tempted to craw under the car again & give it a try, I'll let you know

Cheers Tom

They actually fit one to the latest Lotus Exige S, which is similar power/weight power to my kit/project. Could do with something to soften the engagement of the clutch

"The clutch damper cushions the severity of the clutch / transmission engagement to minimise the stresses to the drivetrain (noting that abusive/ continuous standing start applications will destroy the drivetrain components)."
