Has anyone fitted a newage prodrive back box to a classic?

As the title, I have been told that they require slight modification to the hanger before the rear box. Is this hanger vital or can it be ommitted?

i have a new age STI back box on my classic and i never bothered with the middle hanger. Its been fine.

As above, i have had a few classics with new age back boxes, never bothered with the middle hanger and never had a problem.
