temp gauge not working

Default temp gauge not working

hi guys just got my subaru rebuilt everything is now working fine apart from temp gauge doesent go up could i have plugged somthing in wrong somewere any help much apreciated,

You can't really plug anything in wrong, as a general rule, if it fit's it's correct.

You may have missed plugging the wire onto the temp sensor.

If you have just rebuilt the engine, you will remember fitting an Ally water transfer pipe under the inlet manifold (the rad top hose fits onto it). On this pipe are 2x sensors (1x 1wire + 1x 2 wire) facing the intercooler/turbo.

Check to make sure both sensors are plugged in, The one that controls your temp gauge is the single wire sensor.

If both are connected then remove the wire from the single pin sensor & earth the wire, if the gauge then moves to hot then you have a duff sensor.

think i found the ones,just behind the alternater there defo pluged in,i did notice theres two on a single black wire there too ive prob got these mixed up should the fans come in straight away on this too

No, your cooling fans should not run until the engine is hot & they are told to do so by the Engine Ecu.

Did you ever figure this out? Dealing with the same issue currently. Engine fans come on right away. No movement on
guage even when grounding the sensor wire. Worked before doing head gaskets, now doesn't.
