porting headers?

Default porting headers?

can anyone tell me if it would be worth sand blasting my spare set of headers and porting them or just porting them been looking at some guild and thought i give it a go but didn't know if it's worth sand blasting them aswell

No benefit really m8 as your better off wrapping them

sorry forgot to say sand blast the inside's of the headers was planing to wrap them

IMO, sandblasting the internal bores would be a waste of time. If the porting is done properly, with the bores matched to the exhaust ports on the heads and casting lines are smoothed out, then I can't see any additional benefits it would have.

I plan to port my standard headers and heat wrap them as previously mentioned

No point sandblasting them, a complete polish may be worth about 0.1bhp for the five minutes until its covered in carbon!

Is it a good idea to wrap the standard headers, I was under the impression it could induce cracking as they are cast iron?

Lots of people have wrapped them, and not had problems, I wrapped the cast iron manifolds (As I'm British they are manifolds, they are only headers if your of North American pursuasion!) on my old car (that was famous for cracking them anyway) and never had a problem in 30K miles.
