Default Funny engine noise when timming up

Last night i did an oil change and cambelt change.

First i drained the oil then whilst that was draining i stripped the front to do the cambelt, when i timed the engine up before removing the belt (not worth doing!) One of the pistons (i think) made a whistleing noise like if you blow accross the top of a bottle, I carried on with the cambelt change (what a mission!!!!) then when i timed it all up it did it again, it only seemed to do it sometimes....

The engine runs fine with no problems, do you think it could be because there was no oil in it?

It was probably the sound of the compressed air escaping past the piston as you turned the engine slowly. Quite normal.
