Default Spark problem!

Im having a few issues with my car, its only sparking on cylinders 1&4 i have no spark on cylinders 2&3! Ihave done the following so far
1.Tried a brand new set of plugs
2. Ran my ignitor on another car it ran fine!
3. Changed the engine loom.
4. Changed crank sensor
5. changed cam sensor
6. ran my ECU on another car, it ran fine!
7. changed the coil packs.
Anybody have any idea what i can try next? It seems to be a loom problem rather than a component. Is the main relay linked into the spark circuit?

Depends on what car you have?

In that case then, yes it is.

The coils are not fed 12v by the main relay, but they both share a feed from fuse 16. which also supplies the low tension side of the fuel pump relay, so if you had a problem in this area you would not have any spark at all and the fuel pump would not run.

Are you sure it's cyl's 2 & 3 that you have no spark on?

This would mean you have lost ign diagonally across the engine and not on one side. (i.e looking from the front you have lost rh front & lh rear)

Thats correct Phil 2&3 are dead, even changed the loom and no difference! Sometimes on cranking on the dead cylinders it gives 1 spark then nothing. Good spark on 1&4 thats why i thought it was the ignitor! But it ran fine on my mates car. Its doing my head in and Subaru germany havnt got a clue! So cant really take it anywhere!

Did this fault just appear out of the blue or had the car been worked on just prior to the problem occuring?

It just occured! Had a Tech check it out Friday and the loom is fine!He thought it could be the ecu but we swapped it and it was the same! There is no out put from the ignitor on 2 pins but he has proved the loom to be ok. Im going to check the pulleys now see if the magnets have somehow fell off/out. Also going to check main crank spigot see if any parts are missing!

Yup I agree with that. It was going to be the next thing I suggested.

Looking at the way it is firing Cyls 1&4 and not 2&3 then it would be logical that there is something wrong with the pulses being sent to the Ecu by the cam/crank sensors & we know the sensors are fine so it follows that something is missing from the pickup side of things i.e. a tooth or magnet.

Good luck
Phil
