Whenever I've bought a "new" car no matter who manufacturer is or age, I always give the car a full service including the CAM belt.
Particularly with an Impreza, I would make sure that you are on top of the servicing. It's an extremely rewarding car, but expensive if it goes wrong - like most sports cars.
Hope this helps.

I had my 5 year service done with an MOT just a few weeks ago on a Blobeye it is the earlier of 5 years or 50k.
Cost me £600 at a Subaru Dealer - watch out when they say you need Cam Belt tensioners as this puts the price up by about £120

50k is the recommeded service for the cam belt, with the next one at 60k being the major service that includes all fluids.
With a new second-hand car, do yourself a favour and budget about 500+vat and have both done at the same time at a reputable specialist as soon as you've bought it. This will give you peace of mind you've done the best you can before you start hooning around (be honest, you will..) and hopefully uncover any niggles that need sorting before they become expensive failures.

just rad the manual... cam belt should be changed every 4 years or 60k miles...
like NXG said, I'm going to change the cam belt and all the fluids, but there is no reputable specialist near me, just a regular mechanic.
I should change the cam belt and tensioners right?
some people sometimes change the water pump... is that really needed?
