Default maf question

hi i had a lumpy run the other day for about 3 mins cars been fine since no probs at all but its showing on error code that maf is faulty ,do you guys know bout what could be the prob only went wrong after i wet and dryed my carbon bonnet on the car so apexi cone got wet anyone know if i should just leave it or buy a new maf ? cheers if any advice given

I'm assuming this is a classic? Disconnect the maf and see if the engine cuts out immediately. If it doesn't it's knacked.
Oh, and ditch the 'cone filter' and put your std airbox back on.
