Are these injectors going to fit into my rails?
they are phase 1 550's from Andy Forest, that i got from a guy who changed to 740's.
I'm hoping to fit these into my rails, but they look a little tight and the caps look like they have too much of a gap between them for the bolts.
what do you think?????

That looks like it may be a Power Enterprise injector, although it's difficult to see with it in the rail.
If it is, then they should come with their own caps and small spacers to sit between the cap and the rail.
Let's see a picture of the injector

Here you go ......
Can i remove the rubber insert from within the fuel rail cap, is this a necessary requirment for the injectors?
i have got one of them to fit, but i took the rubber insert from the fuel rail cap and i'm not sure how necessary this is, obv. these injectors have a different top to them compared to the factory ones which were in there.
You can see it fitted below in this image.

Looks like you can remove the rubber from the cap since those injectors look like they have their own rubber in the top of the body?
But just by looking at the pintle end of the injector the bottom O ring looks too small to fit into ph1 rails. In fact it looks like it will fit ph2 rails and you need some ph2 to ph1 adaptors for the pintle end.
Also you should have had some alloy collars to set the cap the correct distance from the rails, rather than leaving bare threads as in your pic.

You should have longer bolts too, judging by the pic it looks like they are just hanging in there!
Compare the size of the lower O rings on these injectors to the ones on the injectors you removed. If they are different then you'll need the ph2-ph1 adaptors - which should also come with lengthened bolts and the collars.
I can wholeheartedly reccommend Carl Davey for the adaptors, in fact he might be best to send these pics to to see what you need.

I've got the same problem..
STi V4.. and maybe phase 2 injectors..
I'll have a look for my old ones and compare them..
I've got a fitting kit from carl davey.. but that won't work as the bottom end of the injectors is too big for the adaptors!!

i've got some phase 1, 1.5 & 2 rails (i fould the phase 2's eventually) and yes you are right these fit the phase 2's just right.
I asked & asked the guy who i got them from which they were for, i tripple checked and every time he was certain that he had them on phase 1 rails. (thats what he thinks hey!!)
Cheers guys, now to mod the phase 2 rails.

what to do if there are no phase 2 fuel rails - STi V4 phase 1.5?
have got the Fitting set (ph2 to ph1/1.5) from Carl.. and phase 2 injectors
the injectors fit straight in - are there any adaptors needed except the longer screws and the spacers?
the set you can find here --> Carl Davey, specialist Subaru Impreza parts supply

You also need the alloy collar to fit to the bottom of the injector. The injectors have to seal at the top (large Oring) and the bottom (small O ring). you don't need an adaptor for the top oring, so ph2 push into ph1.5 quite nicely. Problem is they'll leak into the bore via the smallar bottom Oring.

these seems like a common occurence, are all the uprated injectors pahse two then ??
i ended up sorting out some phase 2 rails for my injectors to drop them into in the end.
out of curiosity my phase 1 rails look like they should flow the same as the phase 2's but apparently the phase 2 are better, is this proven ??
Cheers
Minty.
