hi i'v just bought an avc-r controller for my 1997 subaru impreza type-r from my mate, but its just the controller itself. is this any good to me by itself ?? or will i need the controller plus the solenoid and wiring??

my mate recons that the controller just gets wired into the ecu and thats it. im pretty sure thats not the case

any help would be great

If you haven't got the the plumbing bits, all it will give you is a read-out of a choice of certain parameters, eg boost level, rpm, throttle position, road speed etc. obviously, it will need wiring to the ECU to do this. You'll have no control over boost levels. It's a clever piece of kit, but only when installed and set up by a good tuner/mapper.
