Default Q45 MAF anyone fitted?

Hi guys!
Wanna fit a new MAF (Classic MY98 WRX)..

Some guys told me to use the Z32 MAF..

what about the Q45 MAF instead?
it's 90mm..
PartNo: (22680-61U00) (A36-000 P60)

Heard from idle problems and other problems on CA18/SR20 the MAF should be too big for the amount of air on low revs and on idle..

As my engine is "only" 2,0 not 2,5 it'll cause some problems, won't it?

Anyone fitted a Q45 one?
It's also much cheaper than the Z32 MAF..

Yes I have fitted on my car. No idle problems if tuned properly. Even though Q45 Maf sensor is JECS made it is more reliable then the oem maf sensor

Do you have an Apexi Power Fc in your car to tune the Q45 MAF?
I have to recalibrate the Q45 MAF asap to be able to go on with the tuning...but do not have any clue how it has to be set up!

One more question, is the option number 3 in the Power FC setting "80-VG30" really the Z32 MAF?

No not really. I had to had a lot of scale on the 32 point maf scale. If you are certain about injector settings temprorary set your fuel map to same values(lets say 12.0 afr all around) and start to scale 32 point maf scale. Map tracer will help you a lot so use this function.

That sounds awful!
Do you mean you useing the Z32 MAF and the table in the Apexi for 80-VG30 is not correct or you using the Q45 MAF and this table does no work?

VG31 for Z32
VG41 for Q45

Use whatever you want you will need to retune 32 point scale in anycase. VG31 would be a good starting point for Z32 MAF.

I had to see that my MAF is a purple one
RB20DET /RB25DET ECR33
22680-31U00 R33 350HP ?purple? 76mm

So it is standard on the Apexi maps of the SR20 and RB25.
They seem to bad, as their y-axle ends always at about 4400 load and even the MY00 Maf goes up to 5600!
So it is no good for me, right?

No its not about the values. Since they are different units they have different resolutions. 4400 value on Z32 MAF vs 4400 value on MY00 maf would definetly give different AFRs.

I see, thanks for your answer!
So this MAF is cool to use, as there are tables in the other PFC configurations like SR20 or even RB25 DETT I can copy and paste into my MAF Option 5 for example and drive with this!
Would this work?
I think it´s configured perfect as it´s a stock MAF on these cars!

Yes, stock MAF configured perfect with stock fuel table and injector settings etc.. If you copy just the MAF values from RB25DETT you may still need to tune it because there are other correction factors.

Do you have wideband?

and from the SR20?
They have the same 440cc injectors and the other things should be similar to our EJ20...
I do have a wideband installed of course.

Same for the SR20.

It is not that hard to do 32 point MAF calibration so just use it as a base, check you wideband and fine tune it! That all.

please!
Need to use either the Z32 MAF or even the Q45 MAF in the near future!
If someone has got the numbers needed, I would be more than happy as I doubt I can do this myself...

easiest is to use the sti 98 maf as then you have the scaling already and it plugs in..

So my scaling for the GC8 does not feed the WRX MY99/00 MAF?
Are I´m right?
The EJ20K GC8 airflowcurve is for the STI MAF, is it really different?
And what bhp-mark can I use it to?
Many thanks for your help Simon!!!

the uk and sti maf are differnet diameters and curves.. some but not all the 98 wrx maf are also same as sti.

is yours a 98 or 99 and are you maxing out the 98 or trying to get away from fragile 99?

In first line I want to get away from the fragile MY99 MAF and I´m going to max it out maybe too.
Now I see 4,75V at about 1,65bar and not tuned yet.

So which curves can I use from the existing ones for the MY98 STI one?
What diameter is the 98STI one?

I thought so, but have no hint on how to calibrate the MAF correct!
And it´s the "small" Q45 MAF I have got!

Does someone have the numbers for the Q45 MAF?
Would really need it before my engine pops up, through the fragile MY99 MAF!

I do have the smaller Q45 think this will be good for my powerlevel of 450bhp.
I only have the problem that I can´t find the numbers for calibration!

What is the big Q45 MAF (yellow 90mm one) good for horsepowerwise?!
I did not try the small Q45 on my car yet!
Many thanks for your answers!
