Default speedo not working

Driving along today speedo just stopped working then management light came on got home checked the codes they were 31 throttle position sensor, 33 vehicle speed sensor. thought it was an easy fix thinking the cable had come of but both gearbox end andclock end were in . the car is a 94 wrx wagon is there anything else that could be wrong .

Any help would be great....

If the ends of the cables are tight, it could be the 1.6 step-down gearbox that has given up (assuming the speedo has been converted to read mph).

You'll have a 4,500rpm rev limit without a working speedo

the speedo has not got a convertor on yet it its still in kmph also the car still revs over 4500 . I think because its a 94 model it hasent got the limp home mode on it allowing it to rev over 4500 .

The cable might be attached securely at both ends but still may have snapped the end spindle (part of the inner cable).
Check the convertor as well. Its best to remove the whole cable & check its operation by hand.
If all of the above parts are ok then its the speedo at fault.
