Max boost levels 1994 sti
hi guys i have a 94 sti and want to fit a dawes device.
can anybody tell me what the max boost i can run on the stand ecu and what will be safe.
while i am on this topic can anybody tell my the advantages of fitting an electric boost controller compared to a dawes device or simular manual boost controller.
Thanks David

a dawes device is a very cude boost controller. it can be too easy to just turn the valve all the way to increase the boost which will then blown your engine.
Pay a bit more and get a decent electronic boost controller.
Blitz, HKS, and Apexi are probably the best makes
Standard boost should be 1.1 bar if the car isbog standard, if you have a few mods, such as decat exhaust then you will get a bit of boost creep to maybe 1.15 bar.

Lot of tosh gets posted here at times.
Standard boost level is 0.8bar.
Max boost 1.1bar.
This is limited by the standard MAP sensor, and ECU settings.

i agree with mickywrx standard boost should be around 0.8bar (maybe a little higher if you have a aftermarket exhaust/decat about 0.9bar)
and 1.1bar is the highest you can go on stock ecu mapping
i would suggest not going for something like a dawes device and get a electronic boost controller, ive got a greddy profec b which was pretty cheap at £175 if you shop around and does the job well
