Doing my head in
Its not always doing my head in just some times.
Driving at a steady 80 on a motorway it will run fine, sitting around -4 boost, but if i slow down say for a roundabout and boot it of it, and try and sit at 80 again, the car is juddering and is sitting above 0+ on boost just to keep it at 80,
I've changed my plugs, i tested the MAF by running the car and unpluging it and if it dies its working, which it does. Got told it might be the coil packs, so i rang clinic up, which they said they dont tend to fail on that year MY99 UK..
So i now have rang out of idea's unless i have a hole in a pipe, but why does it do it now and again.

thats a bit weird, try looking at your revs at 80 and then try and do the same thing in 4th gear.
so if its 3.5rpm in 5th it might be 5rpm in 4th. if its a spark problem it should be same revs in each gear i believe.
it could just be something needs a bit of a clean, like boost solenoid or throttle body or air filter.
what does the car boost to at full throttle.you should be just on boost at 80 in 5th.

try removing the chip, it could be a case that the chip was fitted and the ecu reset, depending on what the chp does, alter air temps etc.. then the ecu will adapt to different changes and maybe due to extreme cold weather at the moment plus the chip and other things then the car might not be running with correct readings and cause flow mixtures to alter in the wrong way.

yes check yr pipes if ones come off , i had this happen on a bmw revs were stuck at 4000 rpm checked the carb and the pipe underneath had come away, pushed it back on and hey presto 950 rpm. so in short rubber pipe ?? massive air leak?? or air solenoid stuck open poss.

well had to drive down to sheffeild last night 50ish miles, and sat at 80mph and it started to do it again, not had change to check plugs as its been raining all the time, when i have free time to check. But it did something thats its never done before, It felt like a big cough and splutter just like a miss fire, and as soon as it did it the boost droped like power had cut out,
So am thinking it might be the coil pack or the HT leads. as i have changed the spark plugs with a 7mm gap, (well clinc changed them for me lol)
But when you put your foot down it just powers straight through it like it was not there,
If its not raining going to check the pipes, (the ones near the turbo?)

7 mm gap thats far to big, i would not have thought that the clinic have gapped them that big, 7 thou maybe but 7 mm, no chance.
I would be inclined to clean your boost solenoid mate, just a few squirts of WD40 will help if it's clogged up...

Fixed, and I'm so happy.
Popped down to the clinic on saturday, and let me test out a coil pack, went for a spin, all was much better, came back and payed, set off home got onto the a61 and it did it all again... Turn back to the clinic, took that off and stuck a new maf in, even tho it was testing fine. new maf and ecu reset, paid the difference and set of home,
Wow what a feeling, it picks up alot better than before and just keeps pulling,.
Cheers Clinic
