Pi**ed off with my P1
My P1 has a problem with the tick over, i've put a new air flow, two in fact. Put the cat back on, now removed it again.
Took it to subaru's who went thru all the diagnostic checks and found nothing wrong, they cleared the memory told me to drive it hard to reset it.
Checked for air leaks, none found.
Checked all fuses.
Car has a mind of it's own but still drives well with no loss of power, no missfires just the tick over.
I use 99 fuel for the past two years, i'm all out of ideas now

oh, it's too high, and only sometimes drops to where it should be, oh and when changing gear the revs hang at around 4000 revs, that is when i'm driving a little hard

yeah i thought that to, but it was checked at subaru's on their diagnotic, but to be honest wasn't very confident with the lads checking it, they said it could have been the gear lever nautral switch but that was fine

Take it to a specialist mate. I don't know where you are based but there are plenty of good reputable companies about. I'm sure someone will get to the bottom of it for you.

try this
the throttle position sensor has two screws, one on either side to hold it in place. loosen the screws and adjust idle speed by turning the body of the sensor either left or right a little. this should in theory rectify ur problem

You tried the lambda?
At tickover / part throttle your car should run closed loop, so if the lambda is giving out bad values then that would explain your problem. Also does it still happen after the car has warmed up? If not it could be the lambda heating circuit.

I've got an intermittent high idle with my V5 - which is basically the same engine. I've checked just about everything and changed the TPS and ICV.
Have you tried re-initialising the Idle Control Valve? Plug the two green test connectors together under the dash, turn the ignition on for 3 seconds, then off for 3, back on for 3 and then off. Disconnect the green connectors.
This cycles the engines various valves/solenoids and it seems to help mine for a while, although I might just be resetting something else.
I think mines either a sticky Idle Control Valve (which on MY99/00 is a stepper motor type) or some dodgy wiring somewhere.
