will i need a re map if i change to a bigger top mount cooler on a v2 sti, apart from the obvious boost increase what else is affected to make a re map necessary.??

Non.

Should be fine if your boost doesn't increase, but it should

could i not just lower the boost on the actuator to keep it the same? is there any other reason to remap other than the boost ??

Depending on what intercooler is fitted,

I think front mounts can alter air flow some how but top mounts are just a case of increased boost as far as I know. Thats all mine did, increased boost by between 0.05 & 0.1bar boost.

If you can adjust your actuator to alter boost pressure then you should be fine.
