Default new to imprezas already having problems!

hi im new to imprezas and i brought 1 (94 wrx import)bout a month ago(ish) it had abit of a whine and i thought it was the gearbox, a friend whos had a few scoobs said its the gearbox main shaft bearing and theyre prone to whining but not to worry. since then i thought id see how she webt, took it to 130mph and it sounded terrible so i slowed down to 80ish bout 8 mile later loud knocking noise i pulled over it siezed and never turned over again.
just wondered if some1 could shed some light on what may of happened (it had oil and water)lol

also ive since brought another with front panel damage for the engine, i put the box in too but i did wonder if my old box may of been fine??

also what are good salvagable bits i can remove that i might not know about?
think thats all lol!!

if a part has failed in the box and broken then it may have small floaty bits in the box, when one got into the gear it locked up and hence problems, my box stripped all of teeth on third gear and i had a box full of empties lol and ocasional while pushing it around would lock up as a tooth got in the way lol

If the car wont turn over with the clutch depressed then it sounds like you've damaged the engine, big style.

not always the case, when my box blew made no difference if the clutch was down or up, if it was in neutral etc

although i read it as the box seized rather than the engine.

That's a 14 year old car, and from the posts on here I'd say for every knowledgeable owner there's also a bodger. Which means that the car's history is critical because these cars are a fiddler's dream. The simple solution is to buy a newer car but if needs must then buy one from someone who gives you good vibes and has a truckload of the right kind of receipts.

i wouldn't worry about how old it is i've got a 93wrx and i'm a few years older then you even if you buy a newer car doesn't mean ,no matter how much paperwork you get, still might be crap.

If the knocking noise came from your engine i would guess big ends were knackered.
