Default more problems arise

pulled up and smell of oil smoke coming through scoop

the smoke looks like its coming from down side of engine left side if looking from front?

any ideas?

could it have anything to do with the turbo inlet pipe leaking as in last post as i have still not got a new pipe yet?

surely oil does not come out this pipe ?

i think the oil must be hitting exhaust to cause smoke

More likely a lower rocker cover bolt leaking (6 bolts in each cover). They have a rubber washer on that hardends with age. Only the lower bolts normally leak, you can replace these 1 by 1, you may not need to remove the cover at all. Take a look from underneath (remove engine tray first).

i have just looked and there is oil around the bolt heads and spread all along side

If it is the bolts or R/C gasket, and you are going to replace your self, you take the air box cover "off" to improve access (2 jubilee clips and a couple of clips) then push it to one side. R/C has loads of oil in it so put plenty of rag under it first.

You should be able to see which bolt is leaking (when engine is cold and not running, it is possible to carefully put you hand down to touch bolts at bottom of R/C and determine which one is dripping oil).

The rubberised washers are trapped between the bolt head and the Rocker cover (do one bolt at a time and the R/C gasket should not be disturbed...)

6 bolts, may need to remove spark plugs too, I'm was told subaru recommend using sealent as well, but you might ring their technical department to check this... Folk who "fixed" mine used sealent but no new bits (???) I had to redo it myself...

Upper bolts don't seem to leak because they are not in a pool of oil.

Life is as hard as you make it:-) I know because I'm an expert...

Just don't go stripping any bolts or spark plugs (I didn't.)
