i want to remove it as it is really tatty and not the best looking thing in the world but is this a good idea? noticed a few scoobs on here dont have it but does it affect the engine/ bonnet at all? like in the freezing cold any start up probs? or when it becomes v hot after a run would the bonnet paint crack?

I think it's more of a sound deadening thing than heatshield so you should be fine.
