Default power Steering pump

Hi,

Just swaped my power steering pump for a new (second hand) pump. It was slightly different to the replaced item as in the bolts where a slightly different size, but otherwise looked very similar.

So it was swapped over, like for like and now when i turn the wheels its like the engine is off, no power assistance what so ever. Any idea why this would be?

there is a single electrical connector on the back which is connected up OK, what does this do?

Cheers

The pump came off a 95wrx, Steves car is a 95WRX so you would think it was a straight replacement, however when it was being fitted the hard pipe which leads off to the steering rack didn't fit, the adapter needed to be taken off the old pump and fitted to the new one, however this adapter was a slightly different lengeth, so i am guessing it it causing a blockage in the new pump and causing it to not function.

anyone know much about power steering pumps on these cars?

cheers

Dave
