Default Lambda/EGT confusion

morning all
question regarding sensors for the above(Lambda and EGT) on my 95 WRX:

car has 2 sensors: one in the headers, one in the down pipe

headers: this ssensor has 3 wires and is connected into what looks like original harness via a 4 pin connector using 3 wires: BLACK/red, RED,black, WHITE/red
Downpipe: this sensor has 2 wires (both cut/not connected) vut looks like it was connected to a round 2 pin connector with spade type terminals, again looks like factory harness to RED/green and BLACK/blue wires

now for the confusion:
the headers sensor (which I'm assuming is Lambda due to its looks and 3 wires) gives a constant 0.3v output, so I again assume its fooked. <update: the Apexi shows 'O2-1 sensor' as a RISING voltage with engine temperature..it was up to 0.8v by the time I just returned from a brief drive
the downpipe sensor gives a 2mV output.

I have an EGT gauge (Greddy) which doesnt work but gives a double LED flash , which I'm told means the sensor is fooked/not connected......well judging by the fact that the thermocouple style connector and braided wire in the engine bay isnt connected I'd say thats right....BUT.....that wire is fed along the loom towards the HEADER sensor (though not connected to it)

Ive roughly connected that type K thermo wire to the downpipe sensor but again the EGT gauge didnt read and still gave the double flash

questions: am I right with my assumptions above?
what output SHOULD an EGT sensor give?
what is the downpipe sensor currently connected to???

I'd appreciate some help, guys

regards

Try 22b.com as the depth of knowledge is greater there, as you get more involved in a technical problem...
IMHO
