Default simtek ecu

hi there thinking of getting a simtek ecu fitted by jollygreenmonster but i have an idle problem which i think the idle control valve is knacker as the revs dont raise when i switch th a/c on, is there a way of testing it other than this and also with this ecu it remove the use of the MAF is ths correct? is it just unpluged or removed completely

Thanks

does the car idle fine? any stalling or hunting?

you might not notice the increase in idle speed when switching air con on

maf is not used by the simtek so can be removed, ideally sort a pipe and filter before hand so it can be switched and mapped with new filter or you can leave maf fitted if you want.

no hunting or stalling just when starting from hot the revs shoot straight up to 2000rpm and then settle to a smooth idle after about 10 seconds and when i move along in traffic the revs stick for a few seconds before slowly coming back down,

just bouught a panel filter so is there a pipe i can buy to get rid of the afm or can it just be left in place?

thanks ryan

check the throttle linkage is not catching and is free to move.. oil cable too

what year..?

I have thought about sorting pipe and filters but maf is not a huge restriction so debatable whether it is worth doing.. depend what you want

Needs the idle valve position adjusting, anti clockwise to reduce the problem, don't move much at a time though. Two screws to slacken, before trying position teh screw driver and sharply tap the end to brerak the stiction between screw and inlet manifold. The valve is to the near side of the throttle body.

cheers

bob

agree it could be the idle valve but usually the ecu is able to correct unless it is miles out.. hence was thinking throttle sticking etc..

Hope that sorts it anyway

waiting time is not huge as I get through a fair number of cars a week.

power increase depends on mods, your profile says it is standard but lots of plans email to discuss plans? www.JollyGreenMonster.com - Engine management specialist
