turbo needs to be modified to be front entry and car needs a remap and ideally larger injectors and 3port boost solenoid

If you're buying a used TD05, be sure to get the waterlines with it, as I think the td04 waterlines don't fit (might be wrong).

Also, you'll probably need a fuel pump (Simon correct me if I'm wrong).

I've got a td05 with a 20g turbo, and it's obviously a little bit laggier than the td04, and it spools a lot later. However, the shove in the back is something else

You'll need to decat the up-pipe (i.e. replace the exhaust pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold under the engine to the "hot side" of the turbo), and it's probably advisable to change the downpipe (the bit that goes from the turbo down towards the back) to one with either a sports cat or a decat. The last cat should be replaced with a straight through section, and you'll want to change your backbox also.

At the level a td05 can produce, it might be worth going for a better intercooler also, e.g. an STI top mount from a 2001-present car, as that is more effective than your current one.

fuel pumps on the newage are pretty good but the walbro 255 is so cheap and easy to fit then yes worth swapping.

standard intercooler will work fine but swapping to larger sti one is a good step further.
