Yes i guess you have a wagon though so i'm not sure which turbo you have as the z4 is for a saloon with a TD05 16g turbo.

I do have a wagon but the turbo is a TDO5. So the Z4 would definately be an upgrade, any idea what it changes?

A td04 is std for a jdm wrx wagon with a 3b.
If your sure you have a td05 then a z4 will be a big improvement.

The z4 has a better fuelling amp and i would guess a higher boost level then the wagon (0.87bar for the z4)

0.87bar for a z4, I would get a "scoobychip" from any of the suppliers on here.
I personally have a esl chip that boosts to 1.1bar.

Just thinking, if a PO has fitted a td05 to your jdm wagon, it may be worth popping open your ecu and checking it hasn't already been chipped!

Its definately a TDO5 and ive already chipped it myself:
Increase the boost electronically to 16psi, improve the turbo spool up time,
map the ignition and fuelling to match the new boost settings.
Remove the Japanese 112mph speed limiter setting.
Retain all of the original Subaru safety features and checks built into the OEM item. And main reason for originally buying it was mapped to run safely on UK 97 Ron super unleaded fuel.

The thing is, the chip was for a TDO4 but i originally wanted it for the ability to run safely on UK fuel, but now im over that and just want more ooomph.

I have looked into a ESL daughter board and agree that it is definately a must for the future. The thing is i aint got a pot to pee in and the car has just had a new clutch, cambelt and is in need of new tyres, so am currently looking for cheap fix (Z4) until money starts coming in instead of going out. I'll definately have a look at discussion about ecu upgrades cos the more i can find out the better.
