Default DUMP VALVE'S, ARE THEY WORTH ALL THE NOISE THEY MAKE?

CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF A DUMP VALVE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO MY CAR OR JUST MAKE A NOISE?

There is a dumpvalve on your car, it's the 'hat' that's mounted on the front of your IC...

A 'vent to atmosphere' dumpvalve will not benefit your car, it might or might not damage it though.

Please loose the caps lock

As above, no need for any dump valve other than the standard one. Save your money for some proper mods!

no performance increase except at bog power outputs (500+) and then only minimal and depends how its set up (as i understand).

no real damnage issues as claimed, as long as its the correct one for your year car.

I wonder if there is any correlation between the increasing number of dump valve posts and the falling prices of Imprezas?

Hi
If you remove your dump valve and block off the pipe , you will be forcing pressurised air back through your turbo , hence the chatering noise !! this will slow down the turbo and thus increase lag and of course ware and tear
If you want the wush then vta! if you dont recirculate .
Course the ultimate for noises and performance is Anti lag but that costs ...

You get the chatter with the standard recirc valve anyway .

Dump valves are poo imo . there for RS turbo's and people who where the hats back to front lol

dump valve there for a reason (why do subaru fit one?)
why not vta instead of putting already heated (less dense/less oxy) air back in?
personal opinion

If a vta was better for the car, dont you think subaru would of used one?

subaru can't just think of performance, there things such as noise emissions etc and you wouldn't sell a car with an 'apparent' boost leak would you? i'm sure the dot and the eu would approve of that!

Very true subaru dont have other concerns to take it to account
There is no benefit to either vta or recir below 400 bhp and not major even then !

However no DV means more lag and more wear

P.s There is nothing wrong with the good RS turbo , Just some of the people that drive them and that can be said of all fast or flash cars .

Whatever be happy Matt

I heard that a vta will help your turbo spool up quicker....is that right?

As I understand it,and i'm sure i'll be corrected, a dv will not help your turbo spool up quicker but it will help it keep spinning and hence reduce turbo lag. When you put your foot down the turbo spins up and forces compressed gas in to your mota, when you take your foot off to change gear this gas has nowhere to go and effectivley slows down the turbo by building an increased pressure in the inlet manifold.A dv will allow this pressure to be released either by recirc or vta and let the turbo keep spinning at optimum revs so when you put your foot back on the gas your turbo doesn't have to spin up as much to get back to full revs and so reduces lag.
I think thats right,or something like that
