have you checked gearbox oil level. dipstick by turbo. how many miles has the auto fluid done should be changed overy 30,000 , could possibly need changing dirty oil will clog the fine gallerys in the box. drive usually goes first as this is the main one used try lower gears se if they slip. not sure on subarus whether there is a filter in the bottom of sump on box, autos that have stood for a while sedament stays in bottom of sump not always clearing when draining. so couldnt hurt to remove and make sure its clean. only 10mm bolts. matty

There shouldn't be a fuse in that holder, its there incase you brake down and need to be trowed in 2wd!

use dexron 11 or dexron 11E ATF
As for capacity it says 4.0 qts if you can convert.
but i think its about 3 and a half ltrs but you will need to keep checking and topping up after change. at first.

fluid should be red. if its a dirty brown colour it will need changing.
best to warm up first as hot oil is thinner, pulling more crap out with it on draining. will come out pretty fast too so be warned.
the capacity was for drain and refill with filter. but cant find any more on filter quick glance at book though. will check and get back to you matty
