wrx undertray for sti8 intercooler
Is it possible to (easily) modify the new age wrx undertray for an STI8 intercooler?
I compared the two IC's, and it seems like the area is about 1" deeper and maybe 1" wider to the left and right.
How about using rubber strips attached to the actual itnercooler to provide a seal against the bonnet?

what I did was cut the sti8 bit out of its undertray and then fit it to my classic undertray. I tried to pop rivet it in but I wasn't happy with the fit/looks so I then bodged over the joint sanded it down and painted it black you do realise that you also need an sti8 bonnet scoop for this to work ??? This was the easiest option as modifying the newer undertray to fit an older car is a lot more trouble if it can be done as all the holes for fixing are totally wrong as well so it means more redrilling and measuring !!

I've got a 2003 wrx, so the holes etc should line up for a sti tray, but I haven't got a tray
I was planning on modifying my existing tray to accommodate the intercooler, as I don't like the look of the sti scoop
I think I'll have to fit the intercooler, take the scoop off and do some measurements to see where it aligns

Thw WRX tray would need peeling open to make a bigger opening over the IC. Are you also planning to use an STi8 scoop? -It would also need to be taller to fit snug on the inside of the scoop. The tray intake panels can be prised off using a thin screw driver. Cut taller panels using 1mm Al or SS sheet. Glue in place with araldite.
I tackled the problem a different way by keeping the WRX scoop and fitting an STi8 tray. This needed the side panels making shorter.
