Yes i will fit, bit some fabrication will be required, there are quite a few threads with this mod in detail. Many suggest going FMIC as it is much less work.

It will fit, the WRX is much easier than the STi to fit, you need the mounting brackets as well, and also the BOV and pipework, as well as a new 'splitter' under the scoop.

yes it will fit. but for what its worth IMO you`re better off getting an autobahn fmic for similar money.

no the autobahn one I`ve got fitted on mine is a tidy piece of kit. Think they`ve not long been upgraded though so that could be why. Got mine for £205 including delivery to the channel islands

Autobahn ones aren't as efficient as the Hybrid ones. Although the Autobahn still does the job!

Piece of cake on an RB5 (or any Phase 2 Classic for that matter), there's a good thread in the projects section that covers fitting one to your model of car. In fact, it's so easy it'd probably be more hassle to fit a front mount to your car.

I noticed a massive differnce using a FMIC with the standard TD04, had an Autobahn88 FMIC which i later upgraded to a Hybrid GT Spec.

I found the Hybrid better than the Autobahn88, much less lag.

I wouldn't advise anyone to fit a FMIC if there going to use the TD04, even with bigger TD05/VF34/VF35 etc you'd be better off with a Newage STI intercooler which will work fine up to 400+bhp.

Do you say that because of lag?

I seem to have less lag now i have the FMIC on??? I can only put it down to a boost leak somewhere on the old TMIC!

Mine`s still running on the standard vf23 and hasn`t got any lag. I think it must depend which turbo is fitted.

Yes much more laggy, with the TD04 it actually made the car slower, once the VF34 was fitted and mapped was better, then swapping from Autobahn to Hybrid made it better again.
There must of been some problem with your TMIC if a FMIC is less laggy, look how much pipe work there is and the size of the intercooler.
Andy F only recomends FMIC's for under 400 bhp on pre 96 cars where a Newage STI won't fit, If i was staying at the sort of bhp i'm running now i'd swap to a TMIC, but i'm planing 450+ so will stick with the FMIC.

Andy F is around 500 on a STI8 topmount, so it still works at that level.

I guess its also down to personal preference, i like to know i drive a turbo'd motor and so prefer to feel a build up and then nice hit of power, all associated with a bit of lag, for a day to day driver with torque but no lag i'd probably just buy a large TD motor.
