Default Bleeding cooling system!

Hi folks
Before anyone says do a search i've tried that and still no joy.
Today i replaced the thermostat in my 95 wrx and can't get the cooling sytem to bleed properly resulting in no heat from the heater and the coolant leaving via the secondary header tank hose once its warm
Is there a particular trick to doing this job as i've tried all i can think of to no avail.
Cheers Jules...

Have you tried running it for a bit with the coolant tank cap off? Also squeezing the top rad hose helps remove some of the air from the system.
I did my Bugeye last week after having the inlet manifold off and it took an age to refill the cooling system, lots of air coming out of the coolant tank.

Hi
Yes i tried everything including that that i could think of.
I've remove the stat again now and returned it and got another new one.
Also removed the rad and am going to flush the system today.
Hopefully all will go well this time.
Cheers Jules..

when you refill leave the cap of the tank switch your heater to max heat but dont turn the blower on at all then leave running till all air escapes through the tank worked for me.

I did mine over the weekend, are you sure the thermostat is working? drop it into some boiling water and see if it opens.

I filled the system as much as poss with the engine off then left off the cap as others have mentioned, stand there watching the water level topping up as required, went for a spin after that and all seems well

Any condensation inside, or damp carpets?

What you describe could be the heater matrix gone.

If it's not losing coolant and not running hot and not showing damp inside, it doesn't sound to be a problem.

However, you could get a sniff test done anyway, just to be sure it's not hg failure.
