Coilpack confusion ???
I may be missing something here but not all turbo/WRX/STi ignition systems are the same are they? I've read a lot about 'coil packs' and have seen pictures of them but my MY97 STi Wagon Import has what i would call standard looking HT leads running from a central 4 plug box positioned in the middle of the inlet manifold
. I am just looking for some clarity from all you technically minded Scooby people as to why this differs from others with a 'coil pack' setup? Has it something to do with the year of the car? Thanks in advance....

yes
92~96 is coilpacks on plugs and a separate ignitor
97~98 is like yours with a twin coilpack mounted in middle of inlet manifold and a separate ignitor
99~00 has twin coilpack off to one side with ignitor built in
