Default question

on the way home i thought id see how fast my scooby could go so at 60mph in 5th gear i put my foot down, at 80mph it felt like the engine wasnt putting the power anywhere and the rev counter went from 5 to 7, is that normal??
I tried it again at 100mph the rev was 6-7 is that normal. Seen as my mph goes up to 180.

nah dosnt sound right your saying you where doing a 100 (on track)at about 6k revs ball park figure i think you should have been doing 140 are you getting any spikes on your revs shooting up and no difference in speed if so you may have clutch probs.

if your revs are spiking but youre getting no gain in speed your clutch is fooked.

as per prev reply it sounds like your clutch is slipping.

yeah if i put my foot down say at 80 it will rev up spike you can hear everything working but to me it should shift to 100 in like a couple seconds, if i do it slow its ok. but it doesnt seen to want to go past 100mph like all the powers there but it aint goign anywhere, and when it splike you jump 2k revs without the other mph moving much maybe 81-83mph.
  1. How much is the labour to do a clutch? I can get a clutch.
  2. If I keep using it when will it go and
  3. what could happen
  4. how do i know its gone.
  5. And are they easy to replace.

you will know when your clutch goes mate you will have difficulty in selecting gears and pos not engage at all.you will be looking at about £280/£300 for an excedy clutch fitted as for the life span of it all depends how you drive it could go shortly or last for ages.when you get it done though it might be worth your while fitting a light weight fly wheel as well.

i think its to do with inertia on the fly a lighter one does not need as much power to turn hence your car revs faster.

ive seen ones on sale names "skimmed" and just thought it was a made. I take it skimmed is repolished or something.

PS marx nice body work

Yeah i just tried it again foot down in 3rd and stop power after 50ish. But if i do it slow its ok.
Also battery lights now coming on when i start scobby, so ill charge it and see if i dont have to buy a new one like i did on my celica.

if you do get your fly skimmed make sure it is done from someone you trust or have a good record etc etc as i have heard they can be put off balance.
