Default What diagnostics tools do subaru specialists use?

I am just wondering how many different diagnostics tools are uses by specialists to diagnos fault, or is there one simple device that can plug into the obd socket and monitor how the engine is running? loads of people i know have subaru's which i do quite alot of work on so i might consider buying one if they are not to expensive.
