On the one hand you might say that if you don't already have a pretty good idea of how to plumb in an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, you shouldn't be messing around with fuel systems. But on the other hand, everyone starts somewhere...
At the moment in your offside fuel rail you have the standard regulator in the rear end of the rail. It's held in by a couple of little screws and has fuel hose coming out of it and a vacuum connection off the manifold to control pressure regulation. You're just replacing this tiny gizmo with a whacking great adjustable regulator, so basically you need to remove the original reg, replace it with a fuel rail adaptor that fits into the end of the rail the same. Extend the disconnected fuel return pipe and put a long fuel pipe on your adapter, now these two pipes are what you hook up to your adjustable reg, which will need to be sited elsewhere where there's room for it. Don't bolt it to the bulkead if you can help it as they can be noisy.

ok, that sounds straight forward enough,
i was unsure on the pipe locations, i knew the most of it just wanted some clarification!
many thanks for your post silent running.

Upping the fuel pressure saves having to buy new injectors if you are running near their full capacity.... but aren't going crazy !
I've just got one, and now need acres of braided hose to sort it !

It is a good idea to reverse the fuel flow by fitting the fuel rail adapter and connecting it direct to the fuel return pipe. Then swap the fuel return pipe with the fuel pipe coming from the fuel filter, this makes it a lot easier to mount the fpr on that side of the engine on the fuel return pipe. I got rid of the top mount intercooler and fitted a from mount, so I used the old bracket for the top mount that was left attached to the idle control valve to mount the fpr on.

Very similar to what I've done. My rail adaptor doesn't actually take a big long pipe off anywhere. It just feeds straight into the hard pipe that runs under the manifold. I then just have two short hoses running from the n/s of the manifold into the adjustable reg. I have mine mounted on a plate bolted to the inlet manifold.
